The climbing opportunities described here are all on the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest, the so-called Haardt between Landau in the south and Bad Dürkheim in the north. In contrast to the well-known rocks of the southern Palatinate, local sandstone climbing takes place without exception in former quarries.
This offers the advantage of extraordinarily good rock quality paired with good protection. Essentially there are slabs and vertical walls with batten holes, but also some nice cracks as well as corners and edges. One looks in vain for roofs.
Most areas can be reached very quickly and are family-friendly.
