Actually, the Hochkönig area is just the south-eastern tip of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Only a sub-area, but what a field! Since the Panico climbing guide from 2002, however, Hochkönig routes have only appeared sporadically in selection guides, and there was no separate climbing guide. There is now a comprehensive area guide created with scientific meticulousness that finally corresponds to what the Hochkönig area is - one of the absolute top climbing areas in the entire Alps.
