All climbing areas in the Harz and the Harz foothills are described in detail on 384 pages by Axel Hake. Except the Okertal, which is already included in the Harz Rocks 1. From the Bodenstein cliffs in the northwest to the Steinbachtal in the east to the rocks in the southern Harz, all climbing options in the Harz are described in Harz Rocks 2.
The Harz offers an incredibly wide variety of rocks: sandstone, lime and above all: granite! Colored photo topos, many overview and detailed maps, lavishly illustrated with climbing and atmospheric pictures as well as additional information about the most important players in the climbing scene and the amazing sights of the northernmost German low mountain range.
The sub-areas:
- Bodensteiner cliffs (including the rocks recently opened for climbing)
- North Harz (rocks near Bad Harzburg)
- Upper Harz (rocks near Schierke)
- Rübeland (limestone, marble and melaphyr)
- Harz foothills (soft sandy rocks and quartzite hardlings along the Teufelsmauer)
- Steinbachtal (the granite area has an incredible number of new routes!)
- Ilfeld area (silence and remote rocks)
- South Harz (including Scharzfels and Römerstein ruins)
- West Harz (rocks near Clausthal-Zellerfeld) – included: ice climbing guide!
