Lumignano, a historic crag in the province of Vicenza, turns 100.
The first route opened on these walls of the Berici Hills dates back to 1924. In a hundred years, of course, the world of climbing has changed completely, both in the number of followers and in the ways of tackling rock faces, especially cliffs.
Lumignano has been able, over the decades and through the many openers and users, to renew itself, sometimes giving rise to ethical currents, sometimes to philosophical outbursts, sometimes to major events. It is therefore a cliff that has made its mark on history but, it can also certainly be said, has “marked the history” of an activity that, in recent years, is experiencing a new boom.
On weekends in spring, autumn and winter (but there is no lack of attendance in the summer months too) the various sectors of Lumignano are packed with young and old, all looking for performance on some of the most beautiful routes in Italy and the personal solution of surpassing their own level.
With this publication, the author and publisher intend to show the beauty of this place, made of limestone of many colors, caves, slabs and cracks that allow to develop the magnificent game of climbing, pursuing the good of Lumignano and of the many kids who tread its holds. So that the first century of this wonderful corner of the world opens the doors to a future of fun and satisfaction that only climbing can give.
